A Simple Sinner

That tip on remembering the name works so long as I remeber which Scandanavian country. I keep thinking its not Sweden.

Thanks for the WAVE, Jimmy!

Can't stop the Signal!

(Added Tip: How to remember Joss Whedon's name . . . Remember, it's not "Norway," it's "Joss Whedon." CHT: SDG)

Did I say that? I have no memory of saying that. I'm not sure I want my name associated with that remark! ;-D

P.S. A Serenity sequel would be nice, although I'm not sure a double-dip DVD release is likely to make the difference if the original DVD release didn't.

Whedon needs to get busy. I've just revisited a string of Angel reruns, and am of the strong opinion that we need some kind of screen extension of either the Buffyverse or the 'verse.

SDG

Whedon needs to get busy.

For awhile Whedon was working hard on a Wonder Woman feature film, and my anticipation factor was high for that project. But, alas, he and the studio have had a parting of ways, and I am now no longer particularly looking forward to a Wonder Woman film (not that it couldn't still be good, just that I have no particular reason to think it will be rather than not).

I am as excited as a school girl being asked to prom!

Hope this helps.

Firefly was a GREAT show. So sad to see these shows not make it. The movie was very good but I wish they hadn't killed off two major characters.

While I always thought Buffy was a good show I never really followed nor cared much for it. I can't say the same about Firefly, this show is amazing and of a quality nowadays rarely seen on tv. I enjoyed Serenity too, but I'd give it up in a heartbeat for another season of Firefly!

Jay D

I want to watch the show. The movie was OK, but it felt like they ran out of stroyline so padded the movie with over-the-top gritty violence.

Yes, that would tend to be a drag on any future sequels.

Firefly, the FOUNDATION TRILOGY, DUNE & Red Dwarf.

Any semi-mundane Science Fiction franchise that has no Aliens rulez!!!!!!!

What is smegging?

Smoky Mountain Pottymouth

Wikipedia tells me it's an invented expletive used on the sci-fi show Red Dwarf, of which Jim Scott IV is a huge smegging fan, given that he's used the term twice today.

SteveL--hear, hear. When we got the DVD of the series, we watched them things till the discs went on the blip. What I couldn't figure out was why Joss would move so quickly in terms of plot (like bringing that red-haired chick back twice when she could have used a rest and maybe reprised her role in Season 2). The movie, same deal. Two major characters dead. Now, I understand the need to keep audiences thrilled and coming back, but you've got to keep your core characters alive or else lose the franchise.

BenYachov(Jim Scott 4th)

Smoky Mountain Pottymouth is so correct in his analysis.

Smegtastic!

It is indeed a cruel cruel world when movies like Underdog get made but shows like Firefly are cancelled.

While I too was a little disappointed about the killing of Wash and Book, any fan of Whedon's has to know going in that he has a nasty habit of very suddenly and almost senselessly killing off beloved characters.

I loved Wash but I absolutely disagreed with killing off Book. Book added a several dimensions of danger to the show in both is his role as a voice of religion to Mal and as a man with a dangerous past. It was clear there was going to be a couple of story arcs about this out but instead he just got flushed.

I'm hoping for a prequel... :-)

If it were clever enough, it could even incorporate and shed new light on the events of his Book's death. We never saw the battle and don't really know what happened and why. There could be factors involved beyond the search for River...

More's the pity, Book is completely irreplaceable since he's a highly irregular crewman/passenger. If the pilot dies, you get a new pilot, if the engineer dies, you get a new engineer, but when the shepherd dies, the crew will neither want nor see the need for another. It was a peculiar convergence of events that led to Book being part of Serenity and it would be incredibly lame to devise another to get another shepherd with a mysterious past on board.

At least Firefly Fans got a Movie made. That's more than we poor RED DWARF fans can boast. (Hugh Grant as Lister! Oh the horror.............).

Publius

BenYachov,

Do you honestly think there's a Firefly fan out there who wouldn't have traded the movie for another 38 episodes?

Publius

Okay, make that 37. Or 20 if you want to account for differences in running time. My point still stands.

BenYachov(Jim Scott 4th)

I don't know, if you say so......but after 52 Red Dwarf episodes & we still don't get a Red Dwarf Movie! The injustice................
I don't begrudge Firefly Fans their movie but I wish to raise awareness of the extreme suffering of the Red dwarf Fan.
